Chicks with Sticks

This was our big weekend.

It was just going to be two normal pratices (Drafts), just with coaches watching us. Then it got a little strange. I was approached about being goalie because my son is also a goalie. I didn't even think and said "yes, I would be goalie". I didn't have on goalie gear, but I went out there and tried. It wasn't that bad until out of nowhere comes Dawn! "She Shoots, She Scores"! I could block everyone else, just not Dawn she smoked me!

The Day two:

I dressed in the goalie gear and was dead tired before I even got on the ice. Not so bad today, the team I was on won 2 to 1. Yes, I only let in ONE! I really liked it. However, I think I lost 10 pounds in sweat. I had sweat dripping in my eyes, down my back, you name it it was sweating. Other then that I loved it.

We waited around after the practice to see what team we were on and to get the plan of how things were going to go down. Dawn, Jessica and I are all on the same team. YAY!!

Today we have our draft for the Bay City league. I'll play goalie on that team as well:)

Good Times in Troy

It started with some strange directions and we were off to the Somerset Mall. (Yes I don't know how to get to my own house, but somehow Amy and Dawn made it.)

As we started our day, we needed to do some serious "loving" at the Apple Store. So Dawn, Amy and I found a nice "Apple Mac Book" to give some lovein' to.

We walked around this beautiful mall for a short time before we headed off to lunch.

Can you say STEAK?

We ate lunch at Benihanas. It was great food as well as very entertaining.
After lunch we went back to the mall where we stayed until about 6:00. What a great time we had. We ate fancy chocolate, window shopped, went to the Build A Bear Store where Emily built a cute pink and white Bear, then watched Dawn and Emily try on everything in the Black and White store. Dawn made a purchase. Emily did not, but boy, she looked good!

We tired Emily and Sarah(The Bear) right out!

Just to Cute

OK my husband needs me to go to the store,so he makes me a list.
I ask Tiffany to go with me.
We had to stop and get gas first. As we are sitting there waiting for the gas, Tiffany ask me "How does Dad write with the cap lock down the whole time?"

Just thought that was to cute to pass up!

BIG DEAL

OK, you all may think this is a strange blog, however it’s a BIG DEAL!

I’m a teeth person I notice teeth. I have always kept up on my children’s teeth; just put my teeth on the back burner.

About 6 months ago my Husband got a great job with full benefits, which means I can go to the Dentist with out taking anything way from the family. (It has been 7 long years and I’m scared!)
I have been having teeth pain and I thought I would have a mess in my mouth.

I called the dentist and got an appointment for May, that was the soonest they could get me in. I ask to be put on the cancellation list.
Yesterday with all the talk of a snowstorm, all the older people started to cancel their appointments. So I get a call saying is 9:15 am OK? YES I’ll be there!!

So here it is 9ish and I’m making myself sick.

It’s over, and I did great. No cavities, No damage done. They did have to num my mouth, cuz they had a lot of work to do.

It took one hour and 13 minutes!

Not bad at all:)

I even made another appointment.

Look at these pearly whites.

So there it is my BIG DEAL, a trip to the Dentist.

Purchase Agreement

What a proud moment!

The Weekend in a Nutshell

This last weekend was Great:)

My Mom and Dad came down for a day. It was nice to see them.
My oldest is looking to buy a house and my parents went and looked through the one he wants. Steve likes to have Grandma's approval. (He got it, the house is cute.)

Mom liked that the house had a fish border in the living room. Steve says it will be the first thing to go. Fish are gross!

A few weeks ago my sister Jody told me that my camera was in need of an upgrade. I have not been able to get that off my mind for the last three weeks. So off I went to the store and came home with a really nice camera. Now everyone can enjoy more pictures of random odds and ends. NICE

We had tickets to go to the Spirit game in Sault Ste. Marie Canada. We rode on a Spirit charter bus. It was nice not to have to drive, so I could take pictures of everything! I took 165 pictures on our 11 hour trip, four hour bus ride each way. It was a nice arena, we had great seats and it was a good game. The Spirit lost 5 to 4. While I was there I even saw people that I knew from work.

Then there was Easter!

Good food, family and nature. I could not find the Easter Bunny
but I found the deer.

Everyone knows by now that I play Hockey every Monday night. Last week there was someone from the Bay City Times there, they took pictures and talked to several of the ladies about their experience. They did put an article in the paper however no pictures. (what were they thinking?) Anyway lets get to this week.

Monday I was so proud of myself I scored several times. I'm even making progress on the stopping. Then there is Jessica, second time out and she can hockey stop. (darn youngins)

This weekend is our hockey drafts for the Chicks with Sticks. I'm sooo excited!!!
Dawn and I better get on the same team or we may take each other out. Just joking!!!

Catching up!

The kids have a full week off from the hockey hustle and bustle. However, I have been going strong.

I seem to have caught an upper respiratory infection, but this will not keep me down.
We had our first hockey clinic in Saginaw on Friday. They taught us how to fall, then get up, while moving followed by a scrimmage. What fun:) On Sunday we will skate in Saginaw again.
After my short visit to the ER, I can't miss the hockey (I'm a die hard now!), so I skated at the Sunday clinic. (I did sit a lot Mike, ask Dawn.) We are getting better each time we skate.

We also had a Spirit game Sunday that all the staff from St. Elizabeth had tickets to attend. The Spirit won in a shoot out 4-3.

Monday I figured even if I'm sick I should go to work since I did not take off hockey all weekend, plus I have hockey on Monday nights. (The rule in the house is if you miss school / work NO HOCKEY.) I did not miss hockey. Boy was I glad I went or else I would not be able to say now "SHE SHOOTS SHE SCORES!!!!!!" Yes I did! Finally I scored my first ever goal. YAY!!

I also found a new friend out there skating with us last night. Jessica is skating with us on Mondays. She did a great job for the first time in hockey gear. For those that don't know Jessica, she is my oldest son's girlfriend. I think she will soon be a die hard as well!

Today is a new day and the Hockey thing is taking its toll, I'm sicker then ever and now have been Diagnosed with pneumonia when I went to see my family physician. Nothing medication can't fix. (Really I'm resting now!!)

Goodbye / Hello

I said goodbye to our old faithful Monday. It was a sad moment. We have had her for about 11 years. She was so good to us over the years. She just got so old and was starting to give us trouble. (NO I'm not talking about the dog!)

Which meant we would say hello to the new as we were saying goodbye to the old.
We can only hope this will treat us just as well.

This is not the only cool thing that Monday brought me. My husband fixed the garage door. After almost 4 months of lifting that door every time we left home, I can finally push the "for granted" button. Yay!)

Last game of the season

Tiffany played her last game of the season Monday. We were hoping that we would have four more games to play next weekend. However it is time for a little break. The score of the game was 6 to 3 (we lost). It was a good game our kids were just tired.

The best part of Monday would have to be ME playing hockey. I love it, I'm not so great but I can't get enough of it. I hope to have the whole stopping thing down soon. After I can stop I think I will do much better. Dawn scored twice, and did not biff it hard into the wall this week.
I had a friend that was there this week (Barb) and she went out on the ice with her skate guards on, that was hilarious! (For those of you that don't skate, when this happens, you fall.)

After my hockey event I went to watch my son Steven play hockey at 10:30. They lost 7 to 4. The other team had more players and they were much faster. They just rolled over our team.

I had one more cool event Monday but you will all have to wait and read later!!!

Another hockey weekend

Friday Tiffany had a hockey game at 7:00 pm. This was their last house league playoff game. They won 6 to 2. Tiffany scored one of our goals. Now they move on to the semi-finals, which just so happens to be Saturday.

Saturday,
Tommy had a semi-final game at 11:00, they won 9 to 1. Yay, they move on to the championship game on Sunday!
Tony had a game at 12:00. They did not get so lucky to win, however it was a great game. I love watching Tony and Tommy play. These two boys are going to be great hockey players when they grow up.
Tiffany's Semi-final Game was at 3:40 in which they won 5 to 1. Tiffany scored again! Now we advance to play Sunday! (Championship here we come!) After the game, Tiff's team had another tailgating party. This time we grilled out and ate inside so we could watch the next game and see who we play in the finals. Either way this is going to be a rough game.
Taylor's semi-final game was at 7:00 (Yes this means I'm not able to leave the arena yet.) They did not win, the score was 2 to 0. Taylor was the goalie for this game and had a great game. Our team just could not put the puck in the net! So Taylor is done with his fall hockey season. His drafts for the spring season is Thursday. (NO hockey break for us.)

Sunday starts with setting your clocks ahead, or sleeping one hour less. Whatever way you want to look at it.
Tommy's Championship game was at 9:00 am. It was awesome! Double overtime takes his team to a victory 2-1.

Tiffany played her Championship Game at 12:30.

We came out wanting a win as we took a quick 5 to 0 lead in the first period. For the most part it was a clean game and we won 8 to 2.( Regular Season and Playoff champs)
Everyone may be thinking that we are done, however they are still competing in the Adray league. We are a part of the "Elite Eight" in Michigan. A win on Monday would put us in the "Final Four" tournament this upcoming weekend. A round robin tournament.

After party! (Cuz that's what our team does!) We went to the coaches house for pizza, burgers, beer, and more hockey.

That's when the day gets bad. Out on the pond the kids were playing hockey for about 2 hours when they start yelling "Get coach!" (whom is a doctor). My Taylor and Tiffany are both getting water and holding someone. So we knew it was not good. Taylor took a shot and hit Dallas (one of our key players) in the eye.

Dr. brought the child in and then asked if I could assist in stitching up the patient.
The tough girl that I am sucks it up and says yes. I put on my gloves and assisted in stitching a child with no pain meds. It took all I had not to pass out, and I was just holding string and tools.
As soon as we were done I had to leave. I needed air and Taylor needed space.

That kid was so tough and my son was soooo sad.

Tomorrows another game and we need to have a WIN!!
